How it works:
Government purchased vehicles are sold once they reach a certain point of use and are sold at fair market prices. Bids sometimes have a fixed price as a starting bid. Items do no always go for cheap.
Some property is seized and turned over to the state for auction other items are left unclaimed by owners and auctioned. Almost anything might be found at a government auction. In some auctions, bids are sealed. GSA offices are listed in major cities offering auction dates and locations. Bidding formats involve spot bids, equitable to a silent auction, sealed bids, and dropped sales, fixed prices, negotiations and online bidding.
Financial payments are restricted by treasury rules and cashiers checks or postal money orders are required for payment. In securities, bidding non-competitive and competitive biding is the process for buying securities. This bidding is open to corporations and private individuals.
Treasury securities are auctioned to cover public debt. Federal and local government auctions sell stamps and memorabilia. Auctions are held in person and online. In both instances, bidders are expected to pick the merchandise up no later than 3 to 5 days after the sale.
A person bidding on a product is required to have an EIN number or social security number. The Drivers identification license or a passport is required to enter government property. Government auctions give people the opportunity to find valuable farm machinery and transportation vehicles.
Construction equipment is also available. Heavy equipment is not a giveaway but the prices are far better than paying sticker price. It is difficult to know the type of equipment that might be available but regular bidders are notified by email.
Anyone can register to be notified of an auction. Get listed on the GSA auction notification list today.
